The use of translation apps is becoming increasingly popular. Why? Admittedly, in the contemporay society, an increasing number of people, with the help of translation apps, find it convenient to read foreign literature or essays.

On the one hand, these apps can bring users greater efficiency and help them save more time or energy, particularly for those who have no knowledge of a foreign language. For instance,a host of people may have a variety of difficulties or troubles in learning English, but with the assistance of these apps, it will not be difficult for them to read and understand English materials. On the other hand, it is these apps that cuase some learners to lose motivation for studying. With Apps in hand, they are not willing to do their utmost to memorize new words, pratice speaking or writing skills every day.Fianly, they will ail to get a good command of any foreign language.

I as a college student, deem that it is of great necessity for youngsters to use translations apps in a rational way. We should bear in mind that any translation app is merely a tool. Provided that one intends to master a foreign language, it is advisabel to practice each day instead of relying on translation apps.

It seems that everyone in the world aspires to achieve something so as to live life to the fullest. There are vast majority of tasks that we have to finish in order to succeed, so making plans is the only way that we could possibly achieve our goals. Thus, it is of great importance that doing some planning before we start.

The time when one is working or studying is the most valuable, so ow to effectively utilize it decides whether we could achieve our academic pursuit or career advancement. Take preparing final exam for example, after a long period of study, physical and metal fatigue would unavoidably ensue. However, if we could set out a timetable and stick with the plan, then we could accomplish more things than we thought because we have a time limit on each part, which brings a pressure to us and pushes us to absorb knowledge or do exercises more quickly. Not only preparing exams but also other tasks, making plans could motivate us to be more effective.

In conclusion, working out a plan is the best way forus to utilize our restricted energy and time.

Last Sunday, a profound activity, school project of collecting used books, was held on campus. A host of students poured their passion into the event and almost everyone considered it as a meaningful way to access to knowledge, based on the actual situation yesterday.

Our university student union had made some arrangements for the project. From my perspective, the following two purposes can interpret this activity. To begin with, this kind of activity would cut down expenses of students, cultivating the awareness of saving. In the mean time, collecting used books can decrease the recycling and reprinting of books, and it is also benefit for the protection of environment. Anyone in the school who was curious about the project registered their names on the list and brought their books to student union’s office, Room 115, E Building last Friday.

The collected books have been displayed in the library. All students who attended the event enjoyed this marvellous period.

Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary?

A test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of the College English Test . Some people argue that it is absolutely necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been informed frequently that a Chinese student who has been learning English for over ten years cannot even communicate with a native speaker. Sometimes even those top students who excel in grammar and writing skills find their English inadequate to express their thoughts freely. A test of English will bring the college students an awareness of the importance of oral English, and will thus help them with their communicating skills.

On the other hand, some others still maintain that a good command of reading and writing skills will be enough for the English learners. To some extent their opinion derives from the fact that students are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Another required test will only add to their burden. Moreover, some students may take the shortcut by focusing on several guessed questions according to the fixed format of the test, hoping for a coincidence to bring them good luck.

In my opinion, a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speak English fluently is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly competitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall spare no efforts to practice oral English in the remaining years of my college study.

I am bursting with impatience to recommend a wonderful book to all of you, 1587, a Year of No Significance, which will not only broaden your knowledge but also be beneficial to your life.

The book tells a story of historical events in recording six historical figures’ lives, in which the social structure and political tension of Ming dynasty are reflected. It offers an inspiring and enlightening perspective on what our ancestors experienced and how we take this as a lesson to solve social problems. What’s more, this book, originally written in English, was translated into Chinese by the author himself. Therefore, the two versions could provide a high-quality reference for our study of English.

A good book is the best of friends. I give it my highest recommendation without reservation and hope you would enjoy the book and share your opinion with me.

In a bid to reduce the common phenomenon of food wasting and cultivate student’s awareness in cherishing resources, I propose that we implement a themed activity combating food waste.

This activity will include comprehensive measures, including putting up posters in the canteen and café reminding students to cherish food and avoid ordering food excessively. There will also be volunteers from the student union handing out brochures on the theme of food shortage and the importance of everyone’s participation, and this will take place not only in our dining hall, but also in the dormitories, for many students choose food delivery without leaving their dorm. This campaign will last a whole year, and lectures on the severity of hunger and starvation in some poorer regions will be held from 12:00 to 12:30 in the canteen on every last Friday monthly, in order to draw people’s attention to the necessity of cutting down on food waste.

I look forward for your approval of this proposal, and I am ready to lend a hand if this campaign gets launched.

Online learning has become an option because it provides flexible learning opportunities. This method has ensured that students do not get left behind on their academic study, however, some problems have also emerged during the course.

Since online learning lacks interaction compared with face-to-face teaching, it requires more attention and concentration. Sometimes, students find it so demanding to keep concentrated, and finally turn to some irrelevant online resources instead of academic study. To make sure that they stay tuned, some monitoring software can be ordered to download to ensure they are not browsing other websites while taking online courses. The increasing time students spending in digital devices also pose problems to their health. Thus, schools should encourage their students to do regular exercises such as stretches and eye massages during the break, and some guiding handbooks can be a good start.

The advance of technology should not come with the cost of loosing its original purpose, so does remote study. So we should do our utmost in doing away its possible detriments to the young.

Friendship is an indispensable thing in our lives. On our long journey of life, we will encounter various people and make various friends. We should learn how to maintain good friendships with friends or classmates and experience the benefits that friendship brings to us.

In daily life, we can demonstrate the good character of being helpful when our friends or classmates encounter difficulties, and comfort them when they are feeling down. This is beneficial for maintaining friendship between both parties.

Having good friendships and getting along well and harmoniously with friends can help us achieve success in our studies. When encountering difficulties in learning, we can not only seek the help of teachers, but also seek the help of friends and classmates. Their answers are also the key to our success in learning. In addition, when encountering difficulties in life that you cannot solve, attentive and enthusiastic friends will also bring warmth to you, which will be something worth remembering for a lifetime.

In short, friendship is an essential thing in our lives, and with it, our path of life can be smoother.

Nowadays community service has been placed more importance in our society. As aging society and empty-nest elderly has been proliferating in the entire society, it calls for community service to assist in tending to the elderly and pre-school children.

To ensure high-quality community service, relevant administrationshould take the lead in putting forward regulations and order to promote a cooperating environment, so that the community staff can better carry out their work, or engage more people to join their cause, for example, organizing voluntary team to help with caring for the elderly residents and pre-school children in the community. In this way, the community as a whole can enjoy a more harmonious and secured rapport, which serves as the basis of any possible development.

Taking into account what has been mentioned, concerted efforts in the whole society are needed to promote the community’s ability to enhance their service.

For over 40 years after the reform and opening-up, the Chi-nese government has placed increasing emphasis on highereducation, which has stepped into a stage of stable development with 47 million college students, topping the world in terms of number. With the rapid development of Chinas economy and the ever-increasing living standard of the Chi-nese people, more and more citizens long for higher education.

The number of colleges and universities and the pro-fessionalism of disciplines and majors are continuously raised, the enrolments gradually increased, and the teaching quality constantly improved, creating more opportunities of higher education for young men.

The Chinese government attaches progressively more importance to life-long education. Developing continuing edu-cation is an effective way to build life-long education. With advanced ideas and abundant teaching resources, high tech-nology as the basis of talent cultivation should be regardedas main body of adult education.

In recent years, many colleges and universities have found a new developmental way of continuing education that is suitable to Chinas national conditions by meeting social needs and communicating with employers, so as to ensure continuing education a a greaterrole in the national strategy.

The Chinese government has been emphasizing compulsory education all the time, making it available to each and every child. Since "Law of Compulsory Education" came intoforce in 1986, the authorities have made relentless efforts to achieve the goal of compulsory education for all. Nowa-days, the Chinese children start school at 6 and receive 9-year compulsory education from the primary school to the junior middle school.

In the autumn of 2008, free compulsory education took effect. With the implementation of a series of educational reforms, the quality of Chinas compulsory education has been considerably improved.

Among college students, there is a heated debate over wheth-er they need to commit time and energy to developing social skills. Many believe that such skills are not as important as the study of major courses, while some have the idea that devel-oping them is of great necessity. As for me, the latter is more reasonable.

There are a range of reasons accountable for my point of view. Firstly, college students with great social skills usually have more opportunities at schools. They are more likely to be no-ticed by teachers, win some contests, and seize various oppor-tunities. Therefore, they are more confident than their class-mates who are shy and lack such skills. Moreover, when they graduate and enter the workplace, fantastic social skills can help them rapidly create a good impression on their bosses and collegues, which is beneficial for the career development. Besides, in their daily life, social skills can help them make more friends and expand social ties.

In sum, developing social skills is of great necessity for college students. Not only do these skills help them gain advantages when they compete with their peer groups, but also enable them to conquer difficulties, make more friends and enrich their life.

The importance of developing a healthy lifestyle among college students

It is a truth widely accepeted that a healthy lifestyle plays an important role in college students study and life. Without it, it would be difficult for these young people to gain advantages when they compete with their peer groups.

There are a range of reasons for my point of view. Firstly, col-lege students who live a healthy life are usually stronger and more energetic, because they lead a regular life, have a habit of taking exercise, and pay attention to their psychological health. Therefore, these young people can meet more chal-lenges and thus have more confidence. Secondly, such lifestyle helps a lot when they graduate and enter the workplace. Healthy and positive young men can definitely create a good impression on their bosses, who will in turn give them more opportunities, which is beneficial for their career develop-ment. Beside, students who lead a healthy life are more charm-ing and attractive, and people around them are fond of making friends with them.

In sum, it is of great importance for college students to devel-op healthy lifestyle. In order to do so, they can make friends more with those who lead a regular and healthy life, and they should try to form good living habits, such as going to bed and getting up early, taking exercise, and eating healthily.

The role of physical exercise in achieving success at college

With our society developing increasingly faster, people in growing numbers begin to realize that physical exercise plays a key role in our life, our work, and our study. But in reality, we can see that a mass of people, especially college students, do not attach adequate importance to taking physical exercise.

Physical exercise counts in almost every stage of our life. First-ly, when a student does regular exercise at college, such as running on the sports field, playing badminton with class-mates, and working out at the gym, he can keep fit. Secondly, taking exercise renders students optimistic. According to previ-ous empirical research, physical exercise could help them re-lease pressure, thus leading to a positive attitude towards study and work. Thirdly, in their daily life, such exercise can help them make more friends and expand social ties.

In sum, taking physical exercise is of great necessity for college students. Not only does it help them stay healthy, but also en-ables them to remain optimistic, make more friends and enrich their life.

Upon graduation, virtually all college students will confront the problem of the career choice, which is truly a tough choice. Students opinions differ greatly on this issue. Some hold that priority should be given to start a business of your own, but others take the attitude that finding a job is the best choice influencing their future.

As to myself, I prefer the latter view. An opportunity to start a business exerts a tremendous fascination on a great number of people, with no exception to me. In my view, With the competition in the job market becoming increasingly fierce for college graduates, some ambitious students have tried their hands at launching their own businesses. Over the years, there have been many successful cases of student entrepreneurship and such attempts should be encouraged and promoted by both the universities and the society at large. What’s more ,College students who start businesses are pioneers, among whom will be born China’s future business leaders. Faced with unknown challenges, they are audacious enough to embark on a perilous journey while most of their peers enjoy stable salaries by working as white-collars at high-end office buildings.

All in all, the essential difference between the students who find a job or those students who create their own businesses is that the former are docile followers whereas the latter are aggressive trailblazers. For this reason, business-launching college graduates are more admirable, and thus they command our deep respect.

The population on earth is increasing rapidly, and with the developmcnr of modern industry, more and more people are flowing into cities. So, the housing problem in big cities is becoming more and more serious.

There have been many suggested solutions to this problem. And Im in favour of the idea of building satellite cities in suburbs. The fresh air and beautiful scenery will attract people to leave the overcrowdedcity. With many people leaving the city, more space will be available for those remaining. We can find a lot of successful examples in other coun tries which solve the housing problem by building satellite cities.

Meantime, I dont think developing to the underground will help solve the problem. I can hardly imagine that people will like to live under the ground, withoul the sky and the sun. It will make people feel totally uncomfortable.

The building of satellite cities is a good way to solve the housing problem. It will not only relieve the burden on the big city, but also provide a much better environment for people to live. Of course, there is no perfect way to solve the problem. The housing problem is very complicated, involving many other problems such as traffic, you cannol rely on one way to solve the problem completely.

Along with the improvement of living standards, people are no longer content with being fed and clothed adequately. They are more concerned about how to enhance their sense of happiness.

To a large extent, happiness depends on individuals’understanding about it.For some people, happiness relies on material basis.without which they can’t live comfortably and decently. For others, they believe that happiness has nothing to do with money. Thus to enhance the sense of happiness is not equal to improving one’s material living standards.Instead, people are supposed to confront their life with right attitude,to be active and grateful in order to have a happy life.

For my part, money does buy happiness.but only up to the point where it enables one to live comfortably. To boost one’s sense of happiness not only needs the material but also the spiritual enrichment. It encompasses living a meaningful life, utilizing your gifts and your time, living with reflection and objective.

One glance at a pyramid can leave the viewer in awe of its beauty and splend or. Upon closer examination, however, one might be surprised to discover that such a grandiose structure is composed entirely of ordinary stones.

Most people are familiar with the proverb: Rome was not built in a day. An object as grand as a pyramid is likewise not so quickly or easily constructed. Just as the greatness of the city of Rome is due to the combination of its smaller parts, a pyramid is only as strong as the stones it is comprised of. The image of a pyramid reminds us that great success is in fact an accumulation of small achievements.

History proves that many famous artists and scientists are only successful because of their continued efforts, even after numerous failures. One might recall Leonardo Dancing‘s drawing of an egg, Wang Xi Zhi practicing handwriting, or Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb, for example. The fable that tells us that even water can eventually pierce through stone also points to the importance of patience and diligence. We should take such stories and histories into account and remember the importance of fundamentals; remember that one can build a pyramid only if one is willing to work with small stones. People would be wise to abandon rash inclinations and instead try in earnest. Perseverance is sure to lead to success.

As autumn winds blow, leaves fall. Havingseparated from a tree, leaves decompose into theearth and eventually return to a tree‘s originalroots. Hence the saying: “fallen leaves are destinedto return to the root.”

The picture above depicts the motion of leaves towards the root, which in turn can beinterpreted as the intense bond Chinese feel towards their motherland.

More and more overseas Chinese are returning or have already returned to China. Despitethe length of time they have spent abroad, or regardless of the life they may have lead, theyare often disposed to return to their roots, to come home. It is commonly said that blood isthicker than water. Because they are grateful for their homeland‘s nourishment and support, they return to contribute to the construction of their country with the knowledge, experienceand wealth acquired abroad. This inclination is an expression of people‘s attachment to, andlove of, their homeland. Patriotism is a prevailing emotion among the overseas Chinese. TheChinese still living in China should also cherish and love their country, and give back with theirknowledge and actions in order to cultivate the country‘s present and future.

Since the financial crisis swept the world, the global economy has sunk into a severe recession. Its hard to get through a day without hearing or reading news about the devastating effects of the crisis: A world of companies go bankrupt, millions of employees are laid off, high-return investment bubbles burst, and huge sums of loans can never be retrieved. Its impact on our daily life can be felt in all walks of life.

College students inevitably fall victim to this pervasive slump as well. On top of that, internships and job vacancies are reduced to the minimum as companies keep shrinking. New graduates find themselves hard to get a job, not to speak of a satisfactory one. What comes next? Poor students will be hard-pressed if they find student loans unavailable any more. As a result, some even cannot afford to continue their studies. Lastly, more students are probably out there anxiously looking for part-time jobs now that they have to help cover their expenses in this gloomy economy. Their innocence and eagerness might be taken advantage of by some malicious businesspeople, or even criminal gang.

In response to these threats, we students must act promptly and wisely. Since we definitely will be facing a competitive job market, its crucial that we submit high quality resumes. Therefore, we must commit more to our professional studies. Even do better, master more relevant job skills as a double security. Furthermore, apply for scholarships and grants, as these are still available and we dont have to pay them back. As for the safety issues, trust our instinct - theres no free lunch in this world.

Nowadays, oral English is quite a serious problem among Chinese students. Most of the students have studied English for a long time, but they cant communicate well with other people in English. In addition, there are still many other students who can understand every word of a article, but fail to read them out fluently and correctly.

Many reasons contribute to this problem. Among these reasons, examination-oriented education system plays a vital role. Whats more, most of the students are too shy and nervous to speak in public.

Nowadays many universities encourage and organize students to take part in social practice activities. During the holidays, more and more students choose to be the volunteers, take part-time jobs, or take part in other practical activities alike. It’s obvious that social practice is playing a more and more important role in China’s college education.

Undoubtedly, college students have benefited a lot from social practice. Above all, they are provided with more opportunities to contact the real world outside the campus. Moreover, in social practice activities, students can apply their knowledge to the solution to the practical problems. So their practical skills are improved greatly. Besides, social practice helps strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility.

Considering the above-mentioned, I think, it is necessary for college students to participate in social practice. However, social practice may bring some problems. For example, some students spend too much time in taking part-time jobs so as to ignore their study. Therefore, we should try to balance the relationship between social practice and study.

Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness.

But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can’t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.

I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can’t buy happiness.

As a product of modern computer and the Internet, online games have become very popular among college students. Many students have enjoyed great pleasure and satisfaction from these games. But as we see, some students lacking self-discipline are too much indulged in these games so that their health and academic performances are affected. This phenomenon has caused much worry from the teachers and parents.

However, some others argue that online games are not always harmful. They can train the ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring college students much pleasure and release their pressure greatly.

From my point of view, online games are a wonderful entertainment if you play them in a clever way. When they interfere too much with your study, it is better for you to give them up at once. But if you have enough self-control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them.

It is a common phenomenon that a large number of students are pursuing success with a wrong belief that there exists a shortcut to learning. The picture given reveals this fact in an ironic way. We can easily notice from the cartoon that a student is asking the teacher in the library how to achieve accomplishment in school without studying, while the teacher is pointing to the fiction section to tell him to work hard.

Learning is actually a painstaking process in which both students on campuses and employees of working agencies are struggling to acquire knowledge by sparing great efforts. On the contrary, some people in today’s society aim at studying without hard work, following the so-called “shortcut” ways. From my own perspective, there is no shortcut in the way to learn. First and foremost, learning or obtaining knowledge is based on the accumulation step by step. The famous saying that Rome is not built in one day teaches us that no goal is achieved without persistence and accumulation. In addition, the shortcut to learning is extremely appealing to those who are unwilling to spend time and energy studying because they might win by a fluke. However, students advocating the shortcut is unlikely to win every time. Last but not least, the fickleness and negative attitudes towards exams are responsible for the widespread trend of the shortcut belief, and it surely lead to the failure of study to some students. Taking a look around us, we can find that many agencies and people believe in the prediction of the exams, and students may be indulged in the so-called perditions and pay no attention to studying hard.

As has been mentioned, learning without hard work tends to be useless and meaningless, for students cannot have a great chance to grow into all-round intellectuals. The picture makes us college students aware of the great significance of true skill and genuine knowledge. Only by making efforts to learn in and after class can we gain solid and real ability and competence.

Recently, it is very popular to live a low-carbon life. It not only results jt^omJbejpEomstionfifthejgovemmestjbuLaJsojEises^utjofjthejpeaple’s internalheart.

Living a low-carbon life is of great importance to every one. First of all, it can protect the environment to a great extent. Second, it can save the limited natural resources and energy, and will leave a better world for our offspring.jThird, it is a healthy lifestyle and will help mould a harmonious social atmosphere.

Therefore, how to create a low-carbon life is necessary for us to consider. To begin with, we should save the energy, such as the electricity, water and domestic gas. Second, when we go out we can walk or ride a bike instead of by car. Third, we should not use the plastic bags which are hard to break down. If so, we can live a low-carbon life and gain the happiness of it.

A recent investigation shows that about 80 percent of pupils have private tutors.Such a popular practice indicates that people are attaching greater importance to education. Many parents, for various reasons, missed the chance of obtaining a good education. When their children meet with difficulties in study, they are helpless. Private tutoring is the only solution. As private tutoring is usually one-to-one, the teacher knows the strong points as well as the weak points of the pupil clearly.

However, private tutoring has its own disadvantages. For one thing, it takes up so much of the pupils’ time that they can hardly find enough time for rest and entertainment, which are essential for their physical and mental health. For another, some teachers, busy “shuttling” from one family to another, tend to neglect their regular teaching duties. What’s more, some teachers are eager to help pupils do well in the test, offering the so-called tips for test-taking rather than help them acquire what is more meaningful.

Generally speaking, its disadvantages outweigh its advantages. Greater emphasis should be laid on classroom teaching and practice, on the improvement of teaching quality and on the tapping of pupils’ potentials. Only in this way can a new generation be healthily brought up.

There is a famous saying goes like that “Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.” This saying shows the relationship between knowledge and practice vividly.

As far as we know, if we don’t have corresponding knowledge of some fields, we cannot do well in the fields. There are innumerable examples to illustrate this point. For instance, a singer can sing well only if he or she possesses musical knowledge; a dancer can dance well only if he or she knows how to dance; a worker can get the job well-done only if he or she is familiar with the basic principles of the job, and so on. But in turn, if we do not apply what we have known to practice, knowledge cannot play its role. For example, if we have learned different methods of cooking vegetables, but we do not cook, then the different methods of cooking vegetables do not produce value for us.

Therefore, if we do not have knowledge, we have nothing to practice, but if we have knowledge without putting it into practice, knowledge is of no avail. So we should acquire as much knowledge and put it into practice.

The above saying from Einstein vividly echoes a piece of quotation: stay hungry; stay foolish, which is put forward by Steven Jobs, the late CEO of Apple Inc. Undoubtedly, both of the two great men attach importance to curiosity. To some extent, we may safely maintain that without curiosity, without success.

In the first place, curiosity is the premise of innovation, which can be seen as the key to success. Besides Einstein, a case in point is Steven Jobs, who always keeps curious, devoted to innovation. So, there is no exaggeration to say that the success of Apple Inc doesn’t suppress us at all. In the second place, the quality of being curious provides us with the drive to go forward. To put it another way, where there is curiosity, there is advancement. For example, if a scientist desires to make progress in his research community, he must hold a curious heart; otherwise, his research will eventually go into a corner.

In conclusion, it is not too much to say that curiosity plays an indispensable role both in personal and corporate success. So, it is wise for us to bear in mind great men’s sayings concerning curiosity and practice them as much as possible.

As is known to all, the success of a person needs the right guidance and interest is undoubtedly the best teacher. Even Albert Einstein, the world-renowned physicist, said, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” So it is high time that people explore and cultivate their own interest.

Passionate curiosity can be developed in one’s childhood or in one’s sixties, but once it is ignited, it can change people’s way of study, work and living. On the one hand, interest makes one’s pursuit of knowledge successful and enjoyable. For instance, the pianist Langlang, who plays piano with great love, is awarded a lot of prizes at home and abroad. On the other hand, curiosity helps to resolve difficulties constantly. A worker with curiosity is more likely to dig into the essence of the problem and thus accomplish more creative tasks.

I would like to end up with the famous educator Herbert Spencer’s words which I can’t agree more, “If the interest and enthusiasm among us are cultivated smoothly in the first place, most people will become talents or geniuses.”

Nowadays almost every person has a clear notion about the importance of knowledge, with which we can make great difference to our world. However, the contribution of practice should also be awarded.

Practice is considered significant because it can turn abstract ideas into tangible results. Only through practice can we truly develop our own understanding about the essence of the new knowledge, or else the treasure of knowledge would still be words printed on papers. Moreover, the vilification of new theories requires us to focus more on the practical side, which helps people to learn better compared with the mechanical way of reading and memorizing. In addition, practice makes people acquire information in an active way, thus more innovative thoughts are likely to be generated in the process and then applied to make our future life more exciting.

As far as I am concerned, practice is essential for people to understand, to review and to optimize the information we receive. It is practice that produces enjoyable life and makes knowledge truly valuable.

Western Fast Food Fast food is becoming more and more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers. Today, nothing is more representative of the fast pace of modern society than fast food. There are several reasons for its popularity.

For one thing, it is fast and convenient. Go into a fast food restaurant, and your food will be ready in a minute. Precious time won’t be wasted in waiting-in-line to order or waiting at your table for your food to arrive.

For another, its popularity is also attributed to the clean food, the excellent service and the comfortable environment of the fast food restaurants, and American style. However, I think that fast food isn’t healthy enough because it doesn’t compose a balanced diet and is low in nutrition.

Fast food is only a good choice when you are in a hurry and we should turn to it only once in a while.

What is the most valuable thing in life? Different people hold different opinions. Some value money most, while some others treasure beauty. However, I do believe in the saying,“Friendship is one of life s greatest treasures". So, I cherish friends most.

People always say that a life without a friend is a life without a sun. My opinion coincides with this idea. Man is a social animal. We find fulfillment in association with others, especially those who share common interests with us. Besides, all of us, at certain moments of ourlives, need to take advice and receive help from other people. A good friend is like a mirror. lt shows you not only your shining points but also your shortcomings so as to help you become a better person.

Of course, another saying goes that a friend in need is a friend indeed. Those who share only the happy moments are not the friends that I have in my mind, and those who are willing to share both happiness and hardship are true friends we should treasure.

Nowadays,it’s becoming a trend to pursue as many as possible certificates among colleges students in order to distinguish themselves in the fierce competitive job market.

However, the craze of obtaining various certificates caused many problems. For one thing, students prepare for those examinations either through years of arduous self-education or by spending large sums of money attending local training schools. For another, the publishing of examinations-related study materials and the training programs offered, both online and offline, have combined to form a sizable industry.

In my opinion, its good for college students to have some certificates if they are sure what they would do in the future. In the meanwhile, we should focus on improving students’ ability but not on how many certificates they get. It’s the knowledge and ability they learned that contribute to work not just merely a certificate.

A famous saying goes: “Seeing is believing.” indicating that what you hear may not be reliable, while what you see can be trustworthy. This opinion, however, is still quite partial.

What we see or hear are the facts, but they might be only part of the story, therefore a quick conclusion can be reckless and lead to unnecessary misunderstandings. For example, on a metro packed with passengers, some young people are sitting while an elderly is standing. If you don’t find out the whole story, you may jump to a conclusion that these young people are so rude and indifferent that they show no love and care to the elderly. But the true story may be that these young people have invited the old man to sit down before you came, even if they are quite exhausted after a whole day’s work, while the elderly is quite refreshed after a workout and he refused to take the seat so that the young passengers can have a rest.

In conclusion, before making a judgement, it is better to get to know the situation in a comprehensive way. Only in that case, can we reduce the risks of misunderstanding to the minimum.

In the modern society, with competition becomes increasingly fierce, to find a job is too difficult for the young generation. Academic qualification, as a job a stepping-stone, is an essential factor during the job hunting.

Some people think that the highly educated must be able to find a good job, because education can prove that a person has a good capacity. Therefore, it is commonly believe that a job seeker with a master degree must be easier to find a promising job than a undergraduate. However, now the company interviewers generally prefer to required a even higher academic qualification, like a doctor degree. Otherwise, the applicants, even though he or she has tremendous potential, will be refused relentlessly.

As far as I am concerned, education should not be the single standard in an interview. As for the companies, it is not necessarily a good principle as well. Now the whole community often talk about working ability and efficiency. For example, some people may have high academic qualification, but actually his ability is very limited. So both the individual and the community ought to change their attitude on academic qualification. We should realize that it is the operational capability and service ability which can help you to find a good job.

There is no doubt that many people want to be great and successful, but only a few can climb to the top and be admired by the world. However, it doesn’t mean that most of us are losers. Actually everyone can achieve high by doing small things in a great way.

We have to admit that there are something that we cannot accomplish right now, but it isn’t the excuse for us to stop trying. Being great needs time and patience, so only when all small accomplishments add up can many impossibilities gradually turn to possibilities. At least, one won’t regret for not making effort to achieve the goal. For example, one may doesn’t have the resources or training on how to be a world-class musician, but by constant practice of every short piece of music, he can still bring happiness, comfort and inspiration to his family members and friends, then this person is great in the eyes of the audiences.

Therefore, never cease the pace on the road to our dreams. As long as we stick to our goal and be serious to whatever related to it, we can be considered as great.

Extravagant Spending on College Campus.According to a survey, in recent years the monthly expenditure of a college student hasbeen on the sharp rise. Many college students have no concept of thrift in their mind. Theytake it for granted that they spend money from their parents before they enter into the society. This extravagant spending is primarily caused by the following factors.

First of all, nowadays most of the students are the only children of their families. They arethe apple in their family’s eyes and naturally get more care and pocket money. In addition, withthe improvement of living standards, parents can afford higher expenditure of their children. Moreover, some students like to pursue fashion and trends, which tend to need more money. Finally, campus love is also a possible factor causing extravagant spending.

From my point of view, a college student, as a pure consumer, should learn to be thrifty. We should limit our expenditure on daily necessities but not buy whatever we want regardlessof their prices. The habit of thrift can help us form right values and is favorable to our futuredevelopment.

  How important is money?

I think no one would say that money is not important. There are some things that humans need - food, shelter, healthcare, all of which cost money. But if a person has enough money to sustain themselves and pay for basic necessities, is having more money still important? Will your life improve with the amount of money you have?

Well, its undeniable that money can buy many things. Perhaps you dont need a lot of money to pay for a simple residence, but what if you want to buy a beautiful large apartment in a good community, or if you want to buy a house? In fact, if people are squeezed into a small kitchen, if a married couple has to share a room with their parents, and if children are not allowed a little privacy, people will indeed disturb each other.

More importantly, getting a little joy from life and occasionally having a little fun is great. Unfortunately, many interesting things you can do today come at a cost. For example, in modern cities, on any night, outstanding performers appear in nightclubs and music stages. In addition, you can eat food from all corners of the world in restaurants. So, why do many people living in modern cities lack fun? Its simple, they dont have the money to utilize all these transactions.

So, is money the path to happiness? Not exactly like this. Many people work every day, overtime, weekends, and earn a lot of money. Are they happy? No. They have no time to establish or maintain friendships, no time to enjoy life.

Of course, everyone sometimes thinks, If I had a lot of money, I would be the happiest person in the world. But its important to remember that money is only a means to an end, not the end itself.

Success is something that many people strive for, but that not everyone among us attains. When we consider the various factors that play a role in determining whether a person is successful in life, ambition and action are two of the first to come to mind. Just as American writer Napoleon Hill put it, “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way. ”

To illustrate, a young person who aspires to be a great chef might decide to buy some cookbooks, spend weekends practicing and refining his culinary techniques, or take on a part-time job at a local restaurant. On the other hand, if he simply ends up spending all his spare time surfing the Internet or playing video games, neither of which would give him the skills or experience needed to succeed.

In conclusion, doing great things and doing small things are both essential in determining whether we flourish or fall behind. The former gives us the drive and direction to move forward, while the latter enables us to implement our vision and “make things happen”. In combination, they represent the winning formula that will put us firmly on the road to success.

The famous saying “The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it” is rather thought-provoking, which tells us the real meaning of life. It is contemporary social issue in China with common interests and permanent value.

In my view, there are good reasons to undertake meaningful things that exert positive and profound influence on the society, such as protecting the environment, helping vulnerable groups as well as promoting education. To illustrate, Abraham Lincoln never wavered in his devotion to democracy and equality, whose life has become an inspiration in the United States and throughout the whole world. His life, though limited, definitely lasts longer, and is a life worth living. Likewise, a young person who aspires to be a great writer might decide to buy some literary books or spend weekends writing and refining his works. Without any aspiration, he might simply end up spending all his spare time surfing online or playing Internet games.

In brief, a meaningful life serves to motivate and guide us in our daily lives. It provides us with the focus and direction that enable us to work towards accomplishing a special goal, objective or task.

Nowadays, can we find a person who has not heard of online shopping? It may be a little difficult. Online shopping is coming into fashion in most cities due to the rapid development of Internet technology.

Online shopping is welcomed by the majority of people owing to its obvious advantages: it’s convenient and people can do it 24 hours. You can shop whenever you want——if you want to buy a mobile phone at 2 a.m., you can. Unfortunately, shopping online has its own disadvantages too: you can’t touch the item, let alone try it on. The material of the dress that you see on the screen may be flimsier than what you had expected, and it will probably look much better on the model than it does on you.

Personally, I find buying online to be an excellent way to shop for certain items. Nevertheless, for other items, such as clothes, I reckon it is better to shop at a regular store. In a regular store, you can see the real color, feel the material, and try it on.

There is a saying that “Good habits result from resisting temptation”, to which I can’t agree more. Unfortunately, lack of determined will? and social experience, teenagers frequently fall into the traps of temptations such as Internet games, smoking, drinking, and so on.

In a bid to form good habits, one needs a strong will and perseverance to resist temptation. Numerous examples can be given but these will suffice. The outstanding habit of reading classic literature on a regular basis? is a case in point. Nevertheless, you would definitely have to spend less time on your favorite Internet games or fascinating mobile phones. Likewise, the good habit of doing exercises every day means repeatedly dragging oneself away from the TV series and cozy couch. These cases effectively clarify that good habits arises from resisting temptation.

As has been mentioned above?, a wise mind and determined will should be gradually cultivated so that the adolescents can resist various bad temptations and form excellent habits. Just as Oscar Wilde, an esteemed British novelist put it, “I can resist everything except temptation.”

As an old saying goes, “It takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.” Maintaining trust is the most important characteristic that a person requires to be successful in life. Only by consistently proving to be? honest can a person earn the precious trust of family members and business partners.

On the one hand, a parents’ relationship with his children must be based on trust and integrity. If a father promises many times to take his son to a football match and cancels every time, his son will naturally lose begin to lose faith in his father’s words. On the other hand, in the business world, people with no trust sooner or later earn the bad reputation they deserve. I have observed how destructive a person’s dishonesty has been to his chances for success, and how his relationships with other people are purely superficial, based only on self-interest.

Trust is a very valuable asset, which is easy to lose but hard to gain. In the long run, an honest person will have earned the love and respect of the people closest to them, which, in my opinion, is the greatest measure of a successful life.

  The generation gap

Every new generation is different from the one that preceded it . Today the difference is very marked indeed.

Old people are always saying that the young are not what they were . The same comment is made from generation to generation and it is always true . It has never been truer than it is today . The young are better educated . They have a lot more money to spend and enjoy more freedom . They grow up quickly and are not so dependent on their parents . They think more of themselves and do not blindly accept the idea of their elders . Even which the older generation remembers vividly are nothing more than past history .

Just look at the teenage girls who scream hysterically over the pop stars and the teenage boys who copy the stars and grow their hair long and are no longer ashamed of wearing “pretty”clothes , are simply breaking through the Chinese traditional reserve and fear of showing their feelings . what is more, nowadays most boys and girls are good companions and some of them even fall in“puppy love .”a lot of older people sigh and say ,“we did not use to do like this .”

Do you think the older people’s criticism stems from jealousy just because they could not or did not behave in the same way when they were young ?
